Special EVICT Talk with Masha Medvedeva: Automatically Identifying Eviction Cases and Outcomes Within Case Law of Dutch Courts of First Instance

Watch the Special EVICT Talk with Masha Medvedeva:

Automatically Identifying Eviction Cases and Outcomes Within Case Law of Dutch Courts of First Instance

By Masha Medvedeva

In her talk EVICT’s own Masha Medvedeva will talk about expanding datasets for legal research using machine learning. She will discuss her work on collecting eviction-related cases among all cases published by the Dutch judiciary, and identifying their outcomes, i.e. whether the tenant was indeed evicted or not. While the talk will focus specifically on eviction cases, proposed methodologies have a high potential to be applicable for collecting case law in other domains, e.g., bankruptcy, divorce, etc.

Information about the speaker:

Masha Medvedeva is a computational linguist from Russia. She is pursuing her PhD at the Centre for Language and Cognition Groningen and Department of Legal Methods.
