EVICT Seminar on urban sustainability, inclusion, and resilience
On January 18, the EVICT team will organise a seminar on urban sustainability, inclusion, and resilience. Professor Marius Pieterse (University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg) will visit us these days, and he will participate in the seminar too. Prof. Pieterse is a renowned expert on urban law, the right to housing, and the right to the city. The seminar will deal with the possibilities of the right to housing for urban sustainability, inclusion, and resilience. How can the right be used to produce more environmentally/socially sustainable and resilient cities? Prof Pieterse will identify features of SA housing rights jurisprudence that could contribute to more sustainable and resilient cities etc, and speculate about possibilities in this regard.
Besides that, we have a number of excellent talks by Marlies Hesselman, Dr. Andrei Quintiá Pastrana, and Dr. Sander van Lanen. Prof Michel Vols will chair the seminar.
